The basic parts of the artist way are the morning pages, the artist date, the chapters/essays, and the weekly tasks.
The morning pages are 3 pages of stream-of-conscious writing you're supposed to do every morning. These are private and not even you are supposed to read your own morning pages until week 9. I have a dedicated journal for my morning pages to make things easier. Julia Cameron also offers the idea of writing it on loose sheets of paper and then hiding it away in an envelope or the like but honestly that seems like more of a hassle and I love a good journal so *shrug*.
The artist date is a weekly "date" with your inner artist/child. You set aside 2+ hours each week and do something that you find fun and enriching. There are many different ways to do an artist date, check out some ideas here and here!
Each chapter (or "week") of the book has essays to read around the theme or focus of the week (for example, week 2's focus is "Recovering a Sense of Identity), an exersise(s), and tasks.
Baby's first week!
The chapter I'm on now! has it been like 2-3months?? maybe..but like I'm working on it, sort of. At least I'm getting better at being creative more consistently! That and lowkey I'm doing the Right to Write now as well (in pursuit of my desire to write) so I'm not doing the artist way as consistently because of it. Also the holidays happened and the I was like sick for over 2 weeks which also didn't help^^;
